A dedicated alumna and friend to ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â, Anne Dolan Kelly ’43 died January 26 at the age of 96.
It was noted, “Her cumulative contribution to St. Catherine's is immeasurable, and the result of Anne's devoted efforts are present from the halls of Coeur de Catherine to the Mendel Hall classrooms.â€
Anne volunteered at her alma mater for more than 60 years. From 1988 to 1997, she served as a member of St. Kate’s Board of Trustees. Most recently, Anne was a member of the University’s Planned Giving Advisory Council for eight years from 2001-2009. She was president of the Alumnae Association, and a long-time member of the Board Development Committee. She led numerous fundraising efforts and worked on a number of capital campaigns in the University's history. She was named a trustee emerita in 2010.
She established the James L. and Anne Dolan Kelly Scholarship in 1986 to provide financial assistance to students in need. Later, Pat and Peter Freschette established the Anne Dolan Kelly Assistance Fund and the Anne Dolan Kelly Scholarship, designated for a female employee of St. Therese Nursing Home to receive a full scholarship to pursue an RN degree, in Anne’s honor.
Her genuine commitment to service was recognized with the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Alumnae Award in 1987 and the University's Alexandrine Medal in 1995 as well as a place on the St. Catherine Centennial 100 in 2005.
Anne graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and sociology in 1943. Three of Anne's sisters are St. Kate’s graduates: Betty Dolan '45, Pat Dolan Vogel '46, and Virginia Dolan Dickerman M’44. Three nieces, Maureen Kelly Neerland '62, Janet Dolan '71 and Mary Dolan '82, as well as grand-niece and current student Angela Dolan M'11, '16 are also St. Catherine alumnae.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday January 31 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Chapel on the St. Kate’s campus. Visitation at the chapel one hour prior to Mass.
