St. Kate鈥檚 welcomes four new trustees to board

Three trustees joined the board in February and another one will start in October.

The 亚色影库 Board of Trustees has elected four new members: Laura Nelson '09, JD, Molly Kinsella, and Nneka Sederstrom, PhD, who started in February, and Jan Malcolm, 尝贬顿鈥20&苍产蝉辫;h.c., who will start in October. 

"We are pleased to welcome Molly, Jan, Laura, and Nneka to the 亚色影库 Board of Trustees,鈥 said President ReBecca Koenig Roloff 鈥76. 鈥淭hey each bring a wealth of experience, wisdom, and a strong commitment to our mission of educating women leaders."

 

Molly Kinsella 

Molly Kinsella is senior vice president of creative and media at Best Buy, where she oversees brand, advertising, and media strategy. She has helped lead a brand transformation, recruited top talent, and overseen work that has been both effective and award-winning. She has worked in various marketing roles at Best Buy for the past 12 years and previously spent seven years at Target. Kinsella has also been an active member of the Children鈥檚 Cancer Research Fund board since 2019. 

Kinsella holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Quincy University. 

 

Jan Malcolm, 尝贬顿鈥20&苍产蝉辫;h.c.

A champion of health equity, Jan Malcolm has served twice as commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Health, from 1999鈥2003 and 2018鈥2022. In this position, she helped lead the department鈥檚 response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has also served as vice president of public affairs for Allina Health System, CEO of Courage Center, senior program officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and senior vice president of government programs and public policy at Health Partners.

Malcolm holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and philosophy from Dartmouth College, and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from 亚色影库 in 2020.

 

Laura Nelson '09, JD

Laura Nelson is currently a partner at Stinson LLP, where she puts her expertise in health law to use as chair of the Healthcare and Insurance Division. She was selected to the 2024 edition of Best Lawyers in America and named an Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer in 2021. Prior to joining Stinson, she served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Lorie Skjerven Gildea, Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. 

Nelson has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mathematics and history from 亚色影库 and a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School. 

 

Nneka Sederstrom, PhD

Nneka Sederstrom currently serves as the chief health equity officer for Hennepin Healthcare. In this role, which was created for her, she works to eliminate disparities from the patient care environment. She also created the Talent Garden, a program that introduces youth from underrepresented populations to careers in healthcare, and is a co-creator of Hennepin Healthcare鈥檚 Compass program, which educates employees on systemic racism in healthcare. 

Sederstorm鈥檚 previous experience also includes roles as the co-founder and CEO of UzObi, a health technology company that helps patients guide end-of-life healthcare decisions, and as director of the clinical ethics department at Children鈥檚 Minnesota.  

Sederstrom has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in philosophy and master鈥檚 degree in public health from The George Washington University and a master鈥檚 degree in philosophy and a PhD in medical sociology from Howard University.
