The 亚色影库 track and field team had another outstanding weekend, filled with more personal record (PR) performances and individuals cracking the top-10 all-time lists. However, no one had a better weekend than senior thrower Megan Pohlmann (Grey Eagle, Minn. / Long Prairie-Grey Eagle). The senior put together two of her best performances of the season in javelin and hammer in less than 24 hours, despite long drives and poor weather conditions, earning Pohlmann Wildcat Athlete-of-the-Week honors.
Pohlmann鈥檚 whirlwind weekend started on Friday when she competed at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The senior became the first Wildcat to qualify and compete at the meet since 2010 and certainly impressed with a 10th place finish in javelin amongst a field of Division I, II and III student-athletes. Pohlmann鈥檚 throw of 39.23 meters just missed qualifying for finals and allowed the senior to finish in tenth place overall.
Less than 12 hours later, she followed up an impressive performance at Drake with a win in javelin at the Janis Rider Classic. The senior threw the spear 41.46 meters, which ranks No. 13 in all Division III, to win the event by over a meter. In addition to being the No. 13 throw in the country, it鈥檚 also Pohlmann鈥檚 furthest throw of 2017 and allowed her to win javelin for the third consecutive week, having won at both the St. Olaf and Gustavus meets this month.
Pohlmann also competed in hammer throw at the Janis Rider Classic. She carded a PR throw of 41.26 meters to finish in sixth place. Pohlmann currently ranks third in the MIAC in javelin (41.46m) and twelfth in hammer (41.26m).
