Daphne April Jalteco '20 and Kathleen Carter '83 were among those honored by Minnesota Business as "Women Who Lead". The honorees are women who lead tirelessly every day by example, supporting and empowering others. According to the magazine, "These women not only climb the ladder of success, they also lend a hand to those coming up behind them."

Featured in the January/February issue of Minnesota Business, the honorees have been shattering glass ceilings, taking the lead in their respective industries and introducing new voices to the business community. On January 18, the winners were celebrated at the Women Who Lead 2018: Empowering Future Leaders event in Minneapolis.

Daphne April Jalteco '20 was an honoree in the Retail category, and is the founder and owner of the online retail beauty store Daphne’s Dollhouse. The first in her family to attend college, Jalteco is majoring in healthcare sales and business administration.

Jalteco, a former Miss Minnesota, received numerous nominations from friends and colleagues who are inspired by her leadership. As Miss Minnesota Latina, she used her platform to promote higher education and donated hundreds of dollars of school supplies to schools in Oaxaca, Mexico. “She is a true inspiration to many teens such as myself, and motivates others to pursue their dreams,” says nominator Selena Romero.

Kathleen Carter '83 was honored in the Media/Advertising/PR category, and serves as senior vice president of business development and client services at Archway Marketing Services. Carter developed Archway’s gift-card-distribution business line, which distributes more than half of all the gift cards in North America.

“Kathleen is one of those women who truly solves business problems for her clients and in the process of doing so transforms the way businesses operate,” says her nominator. “She’s always pushing the innovation envelope and is able to rally employees to think differently to deliver to clients products that make meaningful impacts.”
