St. Kate's Res Life director leads 2018 Senior Housing Officer Institute in Pennsylvania

Heidi Anderson-Isaacson, St. Kate鈥檚 director of Residence Life, was selected to serve as chair-elect of the Association of College and University Housing Officer (ACUHO)鈥揑nternational Senior Housing Officer Institute in February of 2015 鈥 and started her role as chair in July of 2016. Her term will come to an end as she leads 50 participants through the 2018 Senior Housing Officer Institute.

鈥淭his means a lot to me because I attended the institute as a participant early in my career and wanted the opportunity to give back to my association,鈥 she says, 鈥渁nd to help other new senior housing officers learn and network with experts in the field.鈥

The Senior Housing Officer Institute offers emerging senior housing officers a series of events to build their knowledge and skills through reflection and active learning. The 2018 conference, that Anderson-Isaacson is overseeing, will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, January 29-February 1.

Anderson has been an active member of the ACUHO since fall 2002. She has served in various positions, including National Housing Training Institute faculty member 2013, Local Arrangements Planning Committee for the 2013 annual conference, and Business Practices & Enhancements Review committee member (2012-13) and has served as a program presenter at various conferences held by ACUHO-I.

In 2016, Anderson-Isaacson co-authored Making A Difference: Improving Residence Life Assessment Practices, Chapter Five, Sharing Assessment Results for the Association of College and University Housing Officers 鈥 International.

At St. Kate鈥檚, Anderson-Isaacson is responsible for managing the long- and short-term planning for the University鈥檚 Residence Life program and facilities for approximately 800 residents housed. St. Kate鈥檚 has seven residence halls and two apartment complexes housing traditional students, graduate students and student families.

鈥淚鈥檝e been at St. Kate鈥檚 16 years, and I still enjoy the work,鈥 she says. 鈥淚 love how diverse our students are and enjoy the challenge of meeting the needs of such a diverse student body.鈥
