Alumna and former public safety director Laura Goodman receives international award

Laura Goodman MAOL'11, who served as director of public safety at 亚色影库 from 2006 to 2014, was presented with the Heritage Award by the International Association of Women Police.

The Heritage Award is given to members of the IAWP 鈥渨ho have had the insight, the vision, and the determination to advance the goals and mission of the IAWP,鈥 said a press release. It is the highest honor the IAWP bestows on an individual member. Goodman received the award on September 18 at a ceremony in Cairns, Australia at the International Women and Law Enforcement conference.

As president of IAWP from 1998-2000, Goodman led expansion of the organization to include Asia, the Middle East, Central and South America, the Caribbean Islands, and Africa.

Goodman also has served at the Minneapolis Police Department, Brooklyn Center Police Department and the Ramsey County Sheriff鈥檚 Department in her 26 years in law enforcement, among other positions.

While working at St. Kate's, Goodman earned a master's degree in organizational leadership. In 2014, she retired to pursue her passion 鈥 advancing human rights for women. She and her partner Michael Paymar launched Education for Critical Thinking, a nonprofit organization seeking to reduce and end gender-based violence.
