The eighth annual St. Kate鈥檚 golf tournament takes place next week, both a fun-filled day of golf and a fundraiser for Wildcat student athletes.
鈥淲e can't do it alone,鈥 says Daniel Thompson, dean for enrollment management and athletics. 鈥淭he people, corporations and others who come out to add their support help us continue to field an athletic program that ought to make us proud.鈥
This year鈥檚 golf tournament takes place August 4 at Deer Run Golf Club. The activity-packed day will begin at 11:30 a.m. and end with a reception dinner and prize ceremony. Participants can also bid on a variety of prizes provided by sponsors and donors at the silent auction.
Each year, St. Kate鈥檚 athletics department hosts the fundraiser to support Wildcat student athletes.
鈥淔or fans, it's a great way to rally around a common cause," Thompson says. "For student-athletes, the lessons that come from athletics, the relationships that come from being teammates, and the mentorship from coaches is invaluable. It's the type of experience that pays dividends on and off the field over a lifetime."
With a variety of generous corporate sponsors, as well as loyal participants with all types of affiliations to St. Kate鈥檚, the annual golf tournament grows more successful each year. Associate athletic director Madge Makowske predicts that this year鈥檚 tournament will draw about 120 participants. A diverse crowd of families, alumnae, faculty, board members, and students show up every year on the golf course 鈥 and everyone鈥檚 welcome!
It鈥檚 one of the few fundraisers that the athletic department hosts all year, and it鈥檚 not too late to donate or register! For more information, visit the .
