Socioecological Model

- : Outlook iCal

Ecological approaches to health are one of the three pillars of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences and School of Nursing framework at 亚色影库. Ecological approaches to health are grounded in the understanding that the conditions that result in individual health or illness arise out of the interaction between an individual鈥檚 traits and their physical and sociocultural environment and are influenced on multiple levels (e.g. intrapersonal, interpersonal, organizational, community, and policy (Sallis & Owen, 2015)). This session will introduce students to the socioecological model and provide an opportunity to discuss ways in which this model intersects with their disciplinary lenses with other disciplinary lenses.

This is a team awareness learning activity with the following learning outcomes:

  1. Describe the socioecological model and its impact on health outcomes.
  2. Compare and contrast the socioecological model with disciplinary priorities and models within the student鈥檚 identified discipline.
  3. Compare and contrast different disciplinary lenses' interpretations and utilization of socioecological principles in practice.
