Stacy M. Husebo, Assistant Professor, MSW, LICSW, earned her MSW from ��ɫӰ��/University of St. Thomas in 2002 and her BA in English/Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 1989. Husebo joined the joint Social Work program in 2007 as a Clinical Faculty/Instructor, and primarily teaches foundation and clinical field seminars, History and Philosophy of Social Work (MSW), Social Policy (BSW), and MSW clinical electives. She is deeply committed to student-centered learning, as well as, committed to social work practice and field education with a focus on reflective practice, critical questioning, social justice, and the flourishing of human and social well-being. Husebo is inspired by the beauty and necessity of diversity, mindfulness and contemplative education, the LGBTQ community, and the signature pedagogy of social work: field education. She works as a field faculty liaison, collaborating with community agencies and field work instructors to foster student growth and development in their internships and supports our community partners. She draws on her social work direct practice experience, social justice advocacy and current private practice to bring relevant and current learning into the classroom. Husebo’s scholarship and service to the community has centered around field education and critical pedagogy, as well as, contemplative practices and pedagogies. She has presented at CMIND, the contemplative mind in higher education conference, for the past several years and recently published an article titled, “Grief as barrier and catalyst in our scholarly work,” along with a colleague. She has also presented in the community on embodied clinical supervision, vulnerability in our work, and on cultivating emotional balance. In direct practice, Husebo has worked with at-risk and homeless youth, as well as, working as a therapist with older adults. She has had a private therapy practice for over ten years, offers supervision to social workers seeking LICSW licensure and offers spiritual direction.
