Jocelyn is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Nursing. She obtained a BSN from Villanova University, MSN from Yale University, and PhD from the University of Minnesota. She has been a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) in hematology for over 25 years, first at Boston Children鈥檚 Hospital then at Children鈥檚 Minnesota (CM). She was one of the first nurse practitioners at Boston Children鈥檚 Hospital and on the forefront of the pediatric AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, caring for children with hemophilia and AIDS. 聽Research interests involve quality of life in families raising a child with severe chronic illness. 聽She coordinated National Public Radio's StoryCorps庐 Legacy at CM, where she led a healthcare team interview families raising a child with hemophilia or sickle cell disease. Presently she is involved in another collaboration with Story Corps: St. Kate鈥檚 StoryCorps庐 Nursing Interviews: Nurses in the Community Who Lead and Influence. As the primary investigator on this project, she works with a wonderful team of faculty and an undergraduate student funded through AMP (Assistant Mentorship Program). Their mission is to obtain oral histories from nurses who have uniquely served the community to gain insight into their professional nursing careers. She loves collaborating with students and hopes to continue involving students in special projects, curriculum development, and research at St. Kate's. 聽With her husband, she has been involved in medical outreach work in several countries. He has helped to establish blood banks in developing countries and together they have educated healthcare providers about hematology and bleeding disorders. She is the mother of three children, one grandson, a 聽black lab and a Bernese Mountain dog. In her spare time, she loves oil painting landscapes, gardening, and cross-country skiing.
