With a degree in gender and women鈥檚 studies from 亚色影库, you will gain new perspectives on cultural diversity and women鈥檚 experiences, both past and present, on a national and global scale.

Educating Women to Think Critically and Act Justly

亚色影库鈥檚 gender and women's studies program is unique in its focus on intersectional feminism and its commitment to preparing students to be changemakers. The program offers a blend of academic and experiential learning, and a grounding approach that examines gender, race, class, and other differences. We value our place as a women's college, which provides a supportive and collaborative learning environment for women.

In the gender and women鈥檚 studies program, you will learn to:

  • Think critically about gender and other differences in society
  • Develop strategies for justice in the workplace, communities, and policies
  • Learn the history of women's leadership and strengthen your leadership skills
  • Understand the gender binary and experience outside the binary
  • Build coalitions locally and globally
  • Connect understanding of gender/race/class to academic fields and your profession
  • Write clearly and persuasively in multiple genres鈥揳cademic writing, personal narratives, and policy documents

In addition to coursework, the program offers a variety of opportunities for experiential learning, including:

  • Internships with organizations working on issues of gender equity
  • Service-learning projects in the community
  • Research opportunities with faculty mentors
  • Conference presentations

The gender and women鈥檚 studies program works closely with the St. Kate鈥檚 Center for Women. The Center offers scholarships to attend PLEN leadership seminars in Washington, D.C., awards for writing and research, grants for student action projects, and more. The Center also is a gathering space for supportive conversations, engagement with difficult issues, and creative organizing for change.

Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies Dual Degree Program

St. Kate's offers the opportunity to apply your liberal arts education in the field of public health through our unique 3+2 dual degree programs in Master of Public Health in Global Health. The dual degree program allows students to complete their bachelor's degree while pursuing a graduate degree.


Gender and women's studies students will complete the gender and women's studies and pre-public health sequence of courses and supporting work for the MPH program.
