Nursing Program Requirements
As a College for Women pre-nursing student, you will have specific prerequisites to complete and you will need to closely track your GPA before applying to nursing school. Your advisor will work closely with you, and you can use these resources to make sure you're on track.
Admission to the Nursing Major – College for Women
Students apply for admission to the nursing major in the fall semester.
- August 25: Application opens
- September 15: Application due
- November 1: All compliance requirements due (i.e., CNA, CPR, immunization information)
TEAS Testing
St. Kate’s will no longer be offering TEAS testing. You can also register for an exam directly through the testing company, . Costs can vary. Official score transcript must be sent to St. Kate’s using institution code: St Catherine U BSN.
CNA and CPR Certification
As part of the application requirements, you are required to be certified as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and have your BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR Certificate.
CNA Certificate Training at St. Kate's
We are excited to offer combined Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Certificate Training sessions, open to all St. Kate’s students at a lower cost than other area certificate classes. The program fee is an all inclusive cost, and at completion you will have your CNA licenses and AHA BLS card.
Sessions for each academic year will be offered in January, May, June, July, and August. Each session is approximately two and a half weeks long and includes a combination of in-class, clinical and testing days.
CNA certificate training information & registration
BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR
You are required to have certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Must complete the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provided level class that is valid for two years. Find a CPR/BLS training site with the search tools below.
